The Mini CasiOak takes the octagonal design that made the GA-2100 famous and scales it down to 40mm. Navy blue resin with rose gold accents adds character to the compact form. Same 200m water resistance and shock protection, just in a size that works on wrists the original overwhelmed.

Casio GMAP2100M-2A: The CasiOak, Compact

When Casio released the GA-2100, the watch community nicknamed it “CasiOak” for obvious design reasons. The GMA-P2100M brings that same octagonal aesthetic down to 40mm—and proves it works just as well at smaller scale.

Navy and Rose Gold

The deep navy resin provides a neutral-leaning base that’s more versatile than black but still grounded. Rose gold accents on the hands, indices, and bezel text add warmth without tipping into flashy. The combination reads more sophisticated than the typical G-Shock colorway. The signature octagonal bezel shape remains intact—it’s immediately recognizable as a CasiOak even at the smaller size.

Right-Sized Tough

40mm case width and 11.2mm thickness put this in comfortable wear territory for smaller wrists. At just 40 grams, it’s noticeably lighter than the standard GA-2100. But the specs didn’t shrink with the case—200m water resistance and shock-resistant construction are unchanged. Bio-based resin case and strap reflect Casio’s push toward sustainable materials.

Analog-Digital Done Right

The analog hands handle quick time checks while the digital subdisplay at 6 o’clock provides day/date and precise readings. The hand shift feature moves the analog hands out of the way when you need an unobstructed view of the digital display. World time spans 48 cities, the stopwatch measures to 1/100 second for the first 60 minutes, and the countdown timer runs 24 hours. Double LED backlighting illuminates both the analog face and digital display.

The Value Play

At $110, the Mini CasiOak is actually cheaper than its larger sibling. If the original GA-2100 felt too big or you want the CasiOak look in a more compact package, this is the obvious answer. The navy and rose gold colorway adds some personality without compromising the watch’s utility.

G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop.  Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
