The GA-010 takes G-Shock’s big analog-digital format and goes full black and gold. At 52mm it has serious wrist presence, backed by the standard 200m water resistance and shock-resistant construction. The gold dial against black resin is street-culture G-Shock at its most intentional.

Casio GA010GB-1A9: Black and Gold Never Gets Old

Black and gold G-Shocks have been popular since the 80s, and Casio keeps making them because they keep selling. The GA-010GB takes the big-case analog-digital formula and executes the colorway well.

The Look

Gold dial elements against matte black resin—the hands, indices, and subdial accents all pop without being gaudy. The 52mm case gives these colors room to breathe. It’s bold, but in a way that reads as confident rather than costume jewelry.

Big Case Energy

At 52mm wide and 16.9mm thick, this is a large watch by any standard. The size is intentional—the GA-010 series was designed for presence. If you want a G-Shock that’s subtle, look elsewhere. If you want one that announces itself, this works.

G-Shock Fundamentals

200m water resistance, shock resistance, magnetic resistance—the core G-Shock specs are all here. Analog-digital display puts hands over a digital subdisplay. World time, stopwatch, countdown, alarms. Auto LED backlight. The package is proven across millions of units.

The Verdict

At $145, the GA010GB-1A9 is an accessible way into the black-and-gold G-Shock aesthetic. It’s built to last, priced reasonably, and looks more expensive than it is. A solid choice for anyone who wants their G-Shock noticed.

G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop.  Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
