About The Product
Timex TW4B34500: The Expedition Ridge in Its Digital Form
Most of the Expedition Ridge line is analog. This one isn’t, and that changes what it’s for. The TW4B34500 takes the Ridge’s rugged case language and drops in a negative-display LCD, which turns a straightforward outdoor watch into something closer to a beater you can actually read at a glance while your hands are full.
A 43mm Square That Wears Like More
The case measures 43mm across and 13mm thick, molded from PC+GF resin in a matte black finish. Square cases always wear wider than their number suggests, and the integral button guards on each side push the footprint out further still. The upside is weight: the whole watch comes in around 53 grams, so it disappears on the wrist in a way a steel case this size never would.
Negative Display, and What That Costs You
The dial runs light digits on black, framed by a thin red outline and the INDIGLO logo below. It looks good. It is also, honestly, harder to read in dim indoor light than a standard positive LCD. Timex knows this, which is why INDIGLO is here and why the button that fires it is the easiest one to find by feel.
The Functions You’ll Actually Use
Chronograph, alarm, countdown timer, day and date. Nothing exotic, all of it accessible through the four pushers without reading a manual twice. The M12B quartz digital movement runs on a CR2016 cell, and the stainless steel caseback snaps rather than screws — quick for a battery swap, sensible on a watch at this level.
Acrylic and Silicone
The crystal is acrylic, so it will pick up scuffs. It will also survive a hard knock that would shatter mineral glass, and the scuffs polish out. The 22mm green silicone strap is soft, and the quick-release spring bars mean you can pull it for something else in about ten seconds.
The Bottom Line
This is a 100m-rated outdoor digital for someone who wants a watch they can stop thinking about. It’s light, it’s legible with the backlight on, and nothing about it is precious. If you want sapphire and a screw-down caseback, this isn’t that watch — and it isn’t trying to be.
