The SRPL99 brings Seiko’s Pepsi bezel heritage to the 5 Sports line in a limited run of 7,000 pieces. At 38mm with the iconic blue-red rotating bezel and a silver checkered dial, it’s a collector-focused piece with SKX DNA at a fraction of the price.

Seiko SRPL99: The Pepsi 5 Sports That Sold Out for a Reason

Seiko’s collaboration with Pepsi makes sense when you think about it—the brand’s had watches with red-and-blue bezels since the 1960s. The SRPL99 takes that heritage and packages it in the accessible 5 Sports line, limited to 7,000 pieces worldwide.

SKX Spirit, Modern Fit

At 38mm, the SRPL99 wears more like vintage Seiko divers than the 42mm+ cases that have dominated recently. The 12.1mm thickness keeps it comfortable under a cuff. For wrists that found the original SKX too chunky, this is the proportioned alternative—with the same 100m water resistance and screw-down exhibition caseback.

The 4R36: Proven, Not Fancy

Inside runs the 4R36, Seiko’s workhorse automatic with hacking, hand-winding, and day-date. It’s not a chronometer, and 21,600 vph isn’t high-beat territory, but it’s reliable, serviceable, and keeps reasonable time. The 41-hour power reserve means you can take it off Friday and pick it up Monday morning.

Details That Matter

The silver dial gets a subtle checkered texture that catches light interestingly. The Pepsi logo sits at 6 o’clock—tasteful enough that it doesn’t scream collaboration watch. That 120-click bezel is properly tactile. The can-shaped packaging is a nice touch for collectors, though you’ll probably just want the watch on your wrist.

The Bottom Line

Limited editions from Seiko at this price point tend to hold value, and the Pepsi connection gives this one extra collector appeal. If you missed the boat on vintage SKX Pepsis or don’t want to spend Grand Seiko money on a GMT, the SRPL99 scratches a similar itch for considerably less.
