Seiko SRPL83 – Elevated SKX-heritage reimagined in blue
About The Product
Heritage & Design Evolution
We at Seiko have built the SRPL83 as a respectful continuation of the SKX lineage. The case and dial layout recall those classic cues bold hour markers, a textured sunray dial, and robust hands but we’ve refined the details. A new bracelet with rounded links softens the way the watch sits on the wrist, and a glossy Hardlex bezel insert adds sheen and contrast to the deep blue of the dial. The “5 Sports” emblem is more than branding: it signifies durability, daily wear-worthiness, and style adapted from decades of Seiko’s dive-watch DNA.
Movement & Functionality
Powering the SRPL83 is Seiko’s Caliber 4R36, an automatic movement with manual winding capability. It beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses 24 jewels, and offers approximately 41 hours of power reserve. Features include day/date display and a stop-second (hacking) function, enabling precise time-setting.
Materials, Case & Wearability
The case is stainless steel, with a case diameter of 42.5 mm, thickness ~13.9 mm, and lug-to-lug length of about 46.0 mm. It uses a curved Hardlex crystal to protect the dial. The bracelet is also stainless steel, combining durability with a more polished, refined appearance. Lug width is 22 mm, making strap changes manageable for those who like switching styles.
Dial, Bezel & Readability
The dial is deep blue with a sunray finish, giving it a dynamic look under different lighting. Hour markers are applied and the hands are refined versions of those seen on earlier SKX models. Hands and markers are treated with LumiBrite for visibility in low light. The bezel is unidirectional, fitted with a glossy Hardlex insert.
Build & Durability
Water resistance is rated at 10 bar (100 meters) sufficient for daily wear, surface swimming, and splash exposure, though not for serious diving. It includes a see-through screw-case back, so you can view part of the movement in action. Magnetic resistance of ~4,800 A/m adds resilience. The clasp is a three-fold push-button release with secure lock. Total weight is approximately 187 grams, so it has a reassuring presence on the wrist.
