The GD010GB-1A9 brings G-Shock’s classic black-and-gold formula to the big-display GD-010 platform. Carbon Core Guard construction, 200m water resistance, 10-year battery, and an oversized positive LCD that’s actually readable in any light.

G-Shock GD010GB-1A9: Black and Gold, Back to Basics

The GD010GB-1A9 is G-Shock’s GD-010 series doing what it was designed for—big digits, long battery life, and the kind of durability that made G-Shock famous. The black-and-gold colorway goes back to the very first G-Shock from 1983, and Casio keeps returning to it because it works. The gold-tinted LCD and polished bezel ring give this watch a presence that belies its price.

Built Around the Display

The GD-010 series stands out because of its oversized LCD. The digits are large enough to read at a glance—no squinting, no tilting. Casio went with a positive (non-inverted) display on this model, which means outdoor readability stays strong even in direct sunlight. The Super Illuminator LED backlight handles the rest when the sun goes down.

Carbon Core Guard in a Big Case

At 54.9 x 51.9mm, the GD010GB-1A9 wears large, but at just 65 grams it doesn’t feel heavy. The bio-based carbon and resin construction keeps weight down while maintaining G-Shock’s signature shock resistance through the Carbon Core Guard structure. Water resistance is rated to 200 meters—more than enough for swimming and water activities.

10 Years, No Battery Changes

The CR2025 battery is rated for approximately 10 years. That’s a decade of world time across 31 time zones, multi-time tracking for 4 cities simultaneously, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, and 5 daily alarms. It’s a lot of functionality for very little maintenance. The front-positioned light button is a practical touch—easy to hit without fumbling.

Who This Is For

If you want a tough digital watch with genuine G-Shock credentials and you’re drawn to the classic black-and-gold look, this is an easy pick. It doesn’t try to be a smartwatch or a fashion piece. It tells the time, takes a beating, and looks good doing it. At this price, that’s exactly what it should do.

G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop.  Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
