The G-STEEL GM700 wraps G-SHOCK’s big analog-digital GA-700 case in a solid stainless-steel bezel. The GM700P-6A finishes that bezel in purple ion plating over a dark dial, on a black resin band, with 200m water resistance and a front-button LED light.
About The Product
Purple Ion Plating Over Steel
The GM700P-6A is the purple member of the G-STEEL GM700 launch trio, alongside the silver GM700-1A and the gold GM700G-9A. Its stainless-steel bezel carries a purple ion-plated finish that reads almost black in low light and pulls violet under direct light, and that same purple runs through the accents on a dark, multi-layer 3D dial. A black resin band and matching buckle keep the rest of the watch quiet so the metal does the talking.
The GA-700 Case, Metal-Covered
G-SHOCK built the GM700 on the GA-700, one of the largest cases in the lineup, then covered it in steel. The result measures 58.4 x 53.4 x 18.6mm and weighs 111 grams, which is slightly larger than the all-resin GA-700 but wears very similarly. Underneath the steel sits a bio-based resin case body, so the watch keeps the shock-resistant construction G-SHOCK is known for along with 200m water resistance.
Module 5522 Features
The GM700 runs module 5522, the same module as the GA-700, and its standout detail is the front-mounted button that fires the Super Illuminator LED light without reaching around the side of the case. The stopwatch also starts directly from timekeeping mode. Beyond that you get world time across 31 zones covering 48 cities plus UTC, a 1/100-second stopwatch with split timing and a target time alarm, a countdown timer adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes, five daily alarms with a snooze, an hourly time signal, and a full auto-calendar. The Hand Shift function sweeps the analog hands out of the way so the digital display stays readable.
Battery and Everyday Use
A CR2016 cell delivers roughly five years of runtime, so this is a watch you set and largely forget. At 53.4mm across with a 18.6mm profile, it is a deliberately large watch built for people who want presence on the wrist and a bezel that holds a polish.

The Brand
G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop. Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
