The GA-110 in high-contrast black and white. Matte black resin case, brilliant white vapor-deposited dial, 200m water resistance, and the full G-Shock toolkit: world time, 1/1000-second stopwatch, and magnetic resistance. Tough, legible, and zero subtlety.

G-Shock GA110WD-1A: High Contrast Done Right

The G-Shock GA-110 has been a street-culture staple since 2010, and the GA110WD-1A variant does something simple but effective with the formula: strip the color palette down to matte black and brilliant white, then let the contrast do the talking. The jet-black resin case meets a white vapor-deposited dial, and the result is a watch that reads clearly from across the room.

The Dial That Pops

The GA-110 series is known for its layered, industrial dial design, and the white treatment here makes all those details more visible than on the standard blacked-out versions. The analog hands, digital windows, and speed indicator scale are all easier to read when they’re sitting on a bright white surface. It’s a practical upgrade disguised as a style choice.

Built Like Every GA-110 Should Be

Underneath the monochrome look, this is the same tank-like GA-110 platform that’s been proving itself for over a decade. The resin case and bezel absorb shocks, the 200m water resistance is genuine (not just splash-rated), and magnetic resistance means you won’t lose accuracy near electronics. The Module 5146 quartz movement handles world time across 48 cities, a 1/1000-second stopwatch, countdown timer, and five daily alarms.

On the Wrist

At 55mm lug-to-lug and 16.9mm thick, this is a big watch. There’s no getting around that. But at 72 grams, the resin construction keeps it lighter than it looks, and the band fits wrists from 145mm to 215mm. The amber LED backlight handles low-light reading, with auto-afterglow so you don’t have to hold down a button.

The Bottom Line

The GA110WD-1A takes a proven G-Shock platform and gives it a clean, high-contrast look that works with everything from streetwear to weekend errands. If you want the GA-110’s toughness without the all-black tactical look, this is the one. The CR1220 battery runs about two years, and the auto-calendar is set through 2099, so maintenance is minimal.

G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop.  Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
