Timex TW2Y31000: Snoopy Has Been on Timex Dials Since 1969

Timex and Peanuts go back further than most collaborations in watchmaking. The first Peanuts-themed Timex arrived in 1969, back when the company was still building watches in Waterbury, and Snoopy has cycled on and off its dials ever since. This one puts him mid-dance on a plain white dial, Woodstock hovering near three o’clock, with nothing else competing for attention.

The Dial Is the Whole Point

Full Arabic numerals ring the outside, a printed minute track sits just inside them, and the center is left almost bare so the artwork has room to breathe. Snoopy’s foot lands right about where a sub-seconds register would go on a busier watch. There is no date window and no logo clutter beyond the Timex signature at three. That restraint is why the joke lands instead of feeling like a novelty print.

A Weekender Underneath

Strip the artwork away and this is Timex’s most familiar watch. The 38mm brass case is 9mm thick with a polished silver-tone finish, the crystal is mineral, and water resistance is 30 meters, which means hand-washing and rain rather than swimming. A quartz movement runs it on an SR626SW cell. Nothing here is trying to be more than it is, and the whole watch weighs about 45 grams.

The Strap Is Better Than It Needs to Be

Most Weekenders ship on nylon. This one gets smooth black leather from SB Foot Tanning Co., the Red Wing-owned tannery in Minnesota, on 20mm lugs. It is a real upgrade in feel, and 20mm is a common enough width that swapping in a NATO later costs almost nothing.

Who It’s For

Anyone who grew up with the strip, or who wants a 38mm watch with some personality and no pretense. Flip it over and the entire Peanuts cast is engraved on the stainless steel caseback, which is a nice touch on a watch at this price. If you want sapphire, a date, or real water resistance, look elsewhere. If you want Snoopy on your wrist done tastefully, this is the one.
