Timex TW2W88900: Snoopy on a Watch That Doesn’t Read as a Costume

Licensed character watches usually land one of two ways: a plastic toy, or a serious watch with a sticker dropped onto the dial. This one avoids both. Underneath the Peanuts artwork it is a Timex Standard, the brand’s plain, well-proportioned 40mm three-hander, and the Valentine’s dial is designed into the watch rather than printed on top of it.

The Dial Does the Work

Snoopy sits at the center of a white dial ringed with full green Arabic numerals and a scatter of small pink hearts. Below 12 there is a curved window with a disc behind it that turns to show a different image of the Peanuts gang each day of the week. It is a small mechanical trick, not a complication in the watchmaking sense, but it gives the watch something to do beyond looking good. The green numerals and pink accents keep it coherent instead of busy.

A Standard, Not a Weekender

The Standard is the more grown-up sibling to the Weekender that most people picture when they hear Timex. It runs 40mm across and 9.5mm tall in a polished silver-tone case, with a vintage-style onion crown and luminous hands. The Honest Spec Sheet

Quartz, battery-powered, accurate, and forgettable in the good way. Mineral crystal rather than sapphire, and a low-lead brass case with a stainless steel back, which is normal at this price and part of why the whole thing weighs under 50 grams. Water resistance is 50 meters, engraved on the caseback: fine for handwashing and rain, not for swimming laps.

Who It Is For

Anyone who wants the Peanuts connection without a watch that reads as fancy dress. At 40mm with a 9.5mm case it wears flat and unobtrusive on most wrists, and the pink strap is the loudest thing about it, which is easily fixed. If you want a mechanical Snoopy watch, Timex’s Marlin line is the place to look instead. If you want the artwork on something you can wear every day without thinking about it, this is the cheaper and more sensible answer.
