The Seiko Prospex Solar Analog-Digital Diver SNJ025 is a contemporary reissue of the 1982 H558 Hybrid Diver’s Watch, the world’s first analog-digital diver. The original earned its “Arnie” nickname after Arnold Schwarzenegger wore it in Commando (1985) and Predator (1987). Seiko brought the design back with solar power, a second time zone, and the same rugged presence that made the original a cult favorite.

Case and Build

The SNJ025 measures 47.8mm in diameter and 13.75mm thick, with a 50.5mm lug-to-lug span. A stainless steel case sits inside a lightweight matte black resin outer shell, giving it the “Tuna” silhouette without the weight. The unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown, screwed pushers, and Hardlex crystal meet ISO 6425 dive-watch standards. A 22mm black silicone strap pairs it to the wrist.

Caliber H851 Solar Movement

Seiko’s H851 solar movement runs approximately six months on a full charge and up to 30 months in power-save mode. The analog display carries LumiBrite hands and indices; the digital window adds date, alarm, 1/100-second chronograph (up to 100 hours), dual time, and a power-reserve indicator. No battery changes required.

Dive-Ready Performance

Water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet) and ISO 6425 certified, the SNJ025 is rated for recreational scuba diving. The Hardlex crystal resists scratches and shocks, and the screw-down crown and pushers keep the case sealed under pressure. The dial reads primarily black but reveals a subtle grey-purple cast under strong light, a tell from the solar cell beneath.
