The Marlin Chronograph takes 1960s Timex styling and adds a functional tachymeter and three-register layout. Blue dial with domed acrylic crystal—the same lens material vintage Marlins used. 40mm quartz chronograph on brown leather. Retro done with purpose, not pastiche.

Timex TW2W10200: The Marlin Gets Sporty

Timex’s Marlin revival started with automatics, but the line has grown. The Chronograph Tachymeter takes the same 1960s DNA—applied markers, domed crystal, thoughtful proportions—and adds the functionality that era’s racing chronographs were known for.

Not Just a Pretty Dial

The three-register chronograph layout (30-minute, running seconds, 24-hour) paired with a tachymeter bezel actually works together. Time something, read the speed on the outer ring. Is anyone actually using this to calculate average speeds anymore? Probably not. But the design language came from real-world function, and that authenticity shows.

Blue That Reads Vintage

The blue dial hits that sweet spot between navy and royal that vintage watches from the 1960s and 70s did well. Arabic numerals at 12, 6, and 9 keep it legible; applied markers elsewhere add dimension. The domed acrylic crystal—same material the original Marlins used—catches light in ways flat sapphire doesn’t. It’s a deliberate choice, not a cost-cutting one.

Quartz, Sensibly

This is a quartz chronograph, and that’s fine. Chronograph complications in mechanical movements add cost and servicing complexity. At this price point, quartz means the chronograph actually gets used without worrying about pusher wear or timing accuracy. The 40mm case at 13mm thick sits comfortably on the wrist without feeling chunky.

For the Person Who Gets It

The Marlin Chronograph works best for someone who appreciates vintage racing aesthetic without needing a vintage price tag or vintage reliability concerns. Brown leather strap, 50m water resistance, battery-powered simplicity. Timex has been doing this since 1854—they know how to make a watch that makes sense.
