The CasiOak in translucent resin with a rose gold vapor-deposited dial. At 11.8mm thick, it’s still one of the slimmest G-Shocks around, and the see-through case gives you something to look at besides the octagonal bezel everyone already knows.

G-Shock GA2100BM-7A5: The CasiOak Goes Translucent

The GA-2100 earned its CasiOak nickname years ago, and Casio has been leaning into it ever since. The GA2100BM-7A5 takes the familiar octagonal shape and wraps it in translucent resin, letting you see the Carbon Core Guard structure underneath. The rose gold dial, finished with metallic vapor deposition, adds warmth to what’s otherwise a clear, icy watch.

That Dial Does Work

The vapor-deposited rose gold finish catches light differently than a painted dial. It shifts between copper, pink, and gold depending on the angle, which gives the GA2100BM-7A5 more visual depth than most G-Shocks at this price. The analog-digital layout keeps the familiar G-Shock readability with hour markers and a small digital window at 6 o’clock.

Slim for a G-Shock, Tough Like a G-Shock

At 11.8mm thick, the GA-2100 line remains among the thinnest G-Shocks Casio makes. The Carbon Core Guard construction uses a carbon fiber-reinforced case to protect the module while keeping the profile down. You get 200m water resistance and shock resistance without the bulk that keeps some people away from G-Shock.

What You Get for the Money

Module 5611 runs the show with world time across 31 zones, a stopwatch, countdown timer, and five daily alarms. The Double LED Super Illuminator with hand-shift function keeps everything readable in the dark. Battery life is roughly three years, which is standard for analog-digital G-Shocks.

Who This Is For

If you like the CasiOak shape but want something less understated than the blacked-out versions, the translucent case with rose gold dial is a strong option. It reads more fashion-forward than most G-Shocks, and the 45.4mm case width with 51g weight means it wears comfortably on most wrists. Not a tool watch pretending to be dressy, but a G-Shock that happens to look good dressed up.

G-Shock, short for Gravitational Shock, first launched in 1983 after Casio engineer, Kikuo Ibe conceptualized a watch that could have a battery life of 10 years, be water resistance up to 100 meters, and survive a 10 meters drop.  Originally intended as a high-priced specialty item, G-Shocks are now considered to highly regarded collector-worthy timepieces.
